Folk singer Maithili Thakur joins BJP, eyes assembly seat in Bihar

Patna (The Uttam Hindu) : Political activity has intensified in the run-up to the 2025 Bihar elections. Folk singer Maithili Thakur has officially joined the BJP. Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal gave her membership.

With this, it became clear that Maithili Thakur could contest from either the Alinagar or Warisnagar assembly seats. Meanwhile, while speaking to the media, Maithili Thakur clarified her position regarding the Bihar elections. She stated that contesting elections is not her goal and that she will work according to the party's directives.

Maithili said, "You asked me about the photo, so I said I'll follow whatever orders are given. I'll do what I'm told. Contesting elections isn't my goal; I'll work as directed by the party." Maithili Thakur, 25, hails from Madhubani district and has already established herself in the music industry. She began her career at the age of 11 with the Zee TV show "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs."
