In-laws' refusal turns deadly: Son-in-law's sword attack leaves family injured, watch video

Pali (The Uttam Hindu): A horrific incident has unfolded in Pali, Rajasthan, sending shockwaves throughout the area. A young man went to his in-laws' home and attacked his wife, mother-in-law, and father-in-law with a sword. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the neighborhood. The footage shows the accused scaring people in the street with a blood-soaked sword. Since the incident, an atmosphere of terror has gripped the area, and the injured remain in critical condition.

There was a dispute regarding the departure of the wife

This entire incident took place in a colony in Pali city. According to the police, 55-year-old Jagdish Joshi, a resident of the colony, married his daughter, Asha, to Ajay Joshi, a resident of Merta City, about eight years ago. Ajay works as an electrician in Jodhpur. Everything went well for a few years after the marriage, but later, differences arose between the couple. Tensions between the two had increased significantly over the past four months, leading Asha to return to her parents' home with her three children. Ajay had been continuously pressuring his in-laws to send his wife back, but her parents-in-law, and Asha herself, were not agreeing to this. Angered by this, Ajay took this horrific step.

He came wearing a helmet and took out a sword from his jacket

On the evening of the incident, Asha and her mother, Durga Joshi, were outside their home in the neighborhood. Ajay arrived on his bike. He was wearing a helmet to conceal his identity and had hidden a sword inside his jacket. As soon as he spotted his wife, Asha, he suddenly drew his sword and ran after her. Asha, terrified, ran inside the house to save her life.

Even the parents who came to intervene were not spared

When mother-in-law Durga Joshi tried to stop son-in-law Ajay, the accused attacked her with a sword, severely injuring her arms and legs. Hearing her mother's screams, Asha came out to rescue her, but Ajay attacked her as well. Hearing the commotion, Asha's father Jagdish Joshi ran to save his wife and daughter, but Ajay was furious. He struck his father-in-law hard on the head with a sword, causing him to collapse on the spot, bleeding profusely.

Wandering the street with a blood-soaked sword

Kajal, the daughter-in-law of the family, who was sleeping in the house, heard the noise and came out to find her brother-in-law attacking her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and sister-in-law. When she tried to intervene, the accused pushed her down. After the attack, the accused roamed the neighborhood for a long time with a naked, blood-soaked sword. Any neighbor who tried to stop him was frightened away by the sword. The accused then fled the scene.

Father-in-law on ventilator, referred to Jodhpur

Immediately after the incident, locals rushed the injured to Bangar Hospital. Doctors say Jagdish Joshi is in critical condition due to a serious head injury and is on a ventilator. His mother-in-law, Durga Joshi, also suffered deep sword wounds to her arms and legs. Given the critical condition of the injured, they have been referred to Jodhpur for better treatment. Police have seized CCTV footage and launched a search for the accused, Ajay, and promise to arrest him soon.
