Mukhtar Ansari's Right-Hand Man Shahrukh Pathan Killed in STF Encounter, Had Rs 50,000 Bounty on Head
Muzaffarnagar (The Uttam Hindu): Shahrukh Pathan, a criminal with a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, was killed in a fierce encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) Meerut unit in Chhapar police station area of Muzaffarnagar on late Sunday night. Shahrukh Pathan is said to be a sharp shooter of the notorious Sanjeev Jiva and Mukhtar Ansari gang.
This encounter took place in the forest near Bijopura crossing when the STF team came to know about Shahrukh's location. Acting on the information, the STF cordoned off the area. Finding themselves surrounded, Shahrukh and his companions started firing at the STF team.
Shahrukh Pathan was seriously injured in the retaliatory firing by the STF. He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. The police have sent his body for post-mortem.
A Brezza car, a pistol, two revolvers, several live cartridges and three shells have been recovered from the spot. According to the police, more than a dozen cases of serious crimes like robbery and murder were registered against Shahrukh Pathan. He had recently come out on bail and was also accused of threatening witnesses in a murder case, after which the police and STF were searching for him vigorously. Despite getting his location several times, he managed to escape by dodging the police. This successful operation is being seen as a major crackdown on organized crime in Uttar Pradesh.
