YouTuber Shadab Jakati charged with rape: Woman accuses him of 1.5-year captivity

Meerut (The Uttam Hindu): YouTuber Shadab Jakati, who became famous overnight on social media with his dialogue 'How much is a 10 rupee biscuit', is now in the clutches of law. A woman has leveled very serious allegations against Shadab, who makes funny videos, such as rape, hostage taking and physical abuse. On the complaint of the victim woman, Meerut police have registered an FIR against Shadab, his wife and son under several serious sections including Section 64 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Trapped in the name of making a reel

According to media reports, the victim, originally from Jharkhand, came to Meerut in 2016-17. She had a love marriage there and earned her living as a tile and stone mason. Driven by a passion for making reels, she approached Shadab Jakati in February 2025 to promote her video. It's alleged that Shadab deceived her by promising her that she wouldn't have to work as a laborer if her video became popular, and hired her. However, under the guise of making reels, she was forced to perform household chores like sweeping, mopping, and cleaning utensils.

Life became hell for one and a half years

The woman has made shocking revelations in her complaint to the police. She alleges that Shadab held her captive for about a year and a half and during this time, she was constantly physically abused. The victim says that Shadab's wife, Sazia, also beat and abused her. She was often denied food and was threatened with death. The woman also mentioned Shadab's illicit relationship with another young woman, Iram. Fed up with the harassment, the woman even contemplated suicide, but finally mustered the courage to tell her husband the whole truth.

Police filed a case, Shadab said it was a conspiracy

Meerut Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhijeet Kumar confirmed the matter and stated that a case has been registered based on the complaint received at Incholi police station. The police are investigating the matter thoroughly and further action will be taken based on the facts. Meanwhile, YouTuber Shadab Jakati has also offered his clarification on these serious allegations. He has declared himself innocent in a phone conversation and a video released on social media. Shadab says that all the allegations are completely baseless and false.
