Traffic challan payments made easier with UPI apps like Paytm and PhonePe, check the details
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a major relief to motorists, the Delhi Traffic Police has decided to simplify and streamline the challan payment process. The public will now be able to pay their traffic challans through any Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform via the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS). The main objective of this new initiative is to strengthen digital governance, promote cashless transactions, and expand convenience for the common man, eliminating unnecessary hassles in paying challans.
To implement this system smoothly, the Delhi Traffic Police has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India (SBI). Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic Headquarters) Satya Vir Katara officially approved the agreement. According to officials, all the formalities related to documentation and process have been completed and now the work of technical integration with BBPS will start soon. The traffic challan system is being integrated with BBPS enabled UPI apps, which means that soon you will be able to easily pay challans in a few seconds through popular apps like Paytm, PhonePe and Google Pay.
This initiative will also provide a new impetus to the Indian government's "Digital India" vision. It was often observed that drivers often lacked cash when issued challans on the road, causing significant inconvenience. However, with this new facility, the cash-strapped problem will be eliminated. People will be able to make payments instantly by simply pulling out their mobile phones. This initiative by the Delhi Police will not only save valuable time but also bring transparency to the entire challan process and make the payment experience more convenient than ever.
