Fire Erupts on Air India Flight After Landing in Delhi – Hundreds Could Have Burned Alive!
New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): A major tragedy was averted at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport when Air India flight AI 315 from Hong Kong caught fire moments after landing. The fire broke out in the aircraft’s Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) while passengers were deboarding, creating panic at the airport.
Thankfully, the APU’s auto-shutdown system prevented the flames from spreading, and all passengers and crew were evacuated safely. Airport fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire within minutes.
Air India confirmed the incident, stating that the aircraft suffered minor damage and has been grounded for inspection. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been notified and a detailed probe is underway to determine the cause of the fire. This comes amid heightened aviation safety measures after the recent Ahmedabad airport incident.
