Haryana Man Shot Dead in America: Had Stepped Out to Get Food, Planned to Return Home in Just 2 Days

Karnal(The Uttam Hindu): Tragedy struck a family in Karnal, Haryana, as their 32-year-old son Sanjeev was shot dead in California, USA, just days before he was to return home. Sanjeev, a resident of Hathlana village, had gone to the US in 2016 via the illegal ‘donkey route.’ After years of struggle, he obtained a Green Card and was working at a restaurant while living with his younger brother in California.

On the fateful night, Sanjeev stepped out to pick up food from a restaurant but never came back. After hours of no contact, his younger brother received a call from California police, informing him that Sanjeev had been shot by unidentified assailants. Police have not yet determined whether the motive was robbery or a targeted attack.

Sanjeev had booked his flight for July 24 and was supposed to visit India for three months. His family was excited, preparing for his arrival and even planning his wedding. Instead, they now await his mortal remains. His mother fainted upon hearing the news, while his father was left speechless with grief. California police have taken the body for postmortem and are scanning nearby CCTV footage to trace the attackers. The murder has left the local Indian community in shock.
