Punjab Doesn't Need Our Water, They Have Enough: J&K CM Omar Abdullah
Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): A big statement has come from Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in which he has refused to give water to Punjab. He said that when we ourselves do not have water, then why should we give it to Punjab? He said that why would I send water to Punjab, Punjab already has a lot of water. Despite having three rivers, Punjab did not give us water. Let us use our water first. First we will use the water ourselves, then we will think about giving it to others.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that there is a drought-like situation in Jammu. Why should we give water to Punjab? Punjab already has a lot of water under the Indus Water Treaty. Did they give us water when we needed it? It is worth noting that after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, there is a demand to stop the water going to Pakistan.
