Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident of sacrilege has been reported in Ludhiana, where a woman disrobed in front of Guru Granth Sahib Ji inside a gurdwara. The incident took place at Gurdwara Shri Ravidas Ji Maharaj in Jugiana village under Sahnewal police station limits.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman, identified as Prakash Kaur, suddenly removed her clothes and threw them in front of the holy scripture in the presence of her husband Harbhajan Singh. Members of the Sikh sangat present at the spot immediately rushed and restrained her.

The matter came to light after Jaswant Singh Cheema, a member of Waris Punjab De and Akali Dal, lodged a formal complaint with Sahnewal police. Based on his statement, a case has been registered against the accused woman.

Cheema informed police that he came across the incident on social media and verified it. He alleged that the woman committed this act intentionally in the presence of her husband, which has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.

Investigating officer ASI Jaspreet Singh explained that there was suspicion among the gurdwara committee members that the woman might have stolen the missing keys of the shrine. She was called for questioning, and when some women asked to search her, she suddenly lost her temper and indulged in this disgraceful act. Police have registered the case and are conducting further investigation into the matter. The incident has triggered outrage in the local Sikh community.
