Haryana(The Uttam Hindu): Pushkar Mela saw an attraction of an extraordinary variety in the shape of Anmol, an eight-year-old buffalo from Haryana weighing 1,500 kilograms, worth an estimated Rs 23 crore.A

s big a draw the buffalo has become, its reputation has, largely been also by virtue of its participation in myriad prestigious events, such as the All-India Farmers' Fair in Meerut.

The breed boasts a more significant popularity than its physical beauty. Buffalo semen is gold for breeding, and it fetches Rs 250 per extraction, which can be used for the mating of between 300 to 900 cattle. The money-making business fetches a monthly income of Rs 4-5 lakh for its owner, Gill.

Maintaining Anmol incurs a whopping Rs 1,500 a day. Media quoted that the buffalo consumes a mix of different dry fruits, pomegranates, bananas, milk, eggs, and other stuff with oil cake, green fodder, desi ghee.

Anmol needs to be bathed twice a day by a unique blend of almond and mustard oil to keep it fit.

Despite being offered up to Rs 23 crore, Gill, who treats Anmol like a brother, is not ready to let go of this golden animal.

With lineage and demand so high, along with carrying such an imposing presence, it's a prized possession in the agricultural world, and Gill won't think twice about having this magnificent companion by his side.
