PM Modi launches Rs 14,260 crore development push in Chhattisgarh, ties state's growth to national progress
Raipur (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attended a grand ceremony in Raipur to mark the 25th anniversary of the formation of the state of Chhattisgarh. On this historic occasion, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several key projects worth over ₹14,260 crore to accelerate the state's development.
These projects cover key sectors such as roads, industry, health, and energy, aiming to strengthen Chhattisgarh's infrastructure. At the event, PM Modi rode a decorated vehicle and accepted greetings from the public on a red carpet. Tight security arrangements were in place.
During his visit, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Martyr Veer Narayan Singh Memorial and the Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum. These museums showcase the saga of courage and sacrifice of the state's tribal heroes. In addition, PM Modi unveiled a magnificent statue of former Prime Minister, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and inaugurated the state's new Legislative Assembly building.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi linked Chhattisgarh's development to national progress. He stated that the state's development is the foundation of the country's progress. A large number of people attended the event, who enthusiastically welcomed the Prime Minister. In his address, Prime Minister Modi discussed the state's development journey, saying that when Chhattisgarh was formed, reaching villages was extremely difficult. At that time, many villages lacked roads. Today, the road network in Chhattisgarh's villages has reached 40,000 kilometers. In the past 11 years, there has been unprecedented expansion of national highways. Today, high-speed trains like the Vande Bharat Express run in Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh was once known solely for the export of raw materials. Today, it is establishing a new identity as an industrial state.
Prime Minister Modi said that today is a historic day as Chhattisgarh has received a new temple of democracy, the new Vidhan Sabha building. He also had the opportunity to inaugurate the Tribal Museum on this occasion. Additionally, from this platform, foundation stones and inaugurations were held for projects worth approximately ₹14,000 crore. He said, "I heartily congratulate all of you for these development works.
He further said that this period of 25 years has ended, and today the dawn of a new era of the next 25 years is dawning. Twenty-five years ago, Atal ji's government handed over to you the Chhattisgarh of your dreams. He also pledged that Chhattisgarh would reach new heights of development. Today, the state is moving rapidly in that direction.
Prime Minister Modi said that it is a proud moment for him to be a part of Chhattisgarh's silver jubilee celebrations. "As a BJP worker, I have seen the era before the state's formation and have also witnessed the development journey of these 25 years. Therefore, it is a wonderful feeling for me to be a part of this glorious moment," he said.
Regarding welfare schemes for the poor, he said that his government has always focused on providing medicine, income, education, and irrigation to the poor. Twenty-five years ago, Chhattisgarh had only one medical college. Today, there are 14 medical colleges and an AIIMS in Raipur. This change reflects Chhattisgarh's progress.
Prime Minister Modi stated that the central government's goal is to provide every poor person with a permanent home. In the past 11 years, 40 million poor people have been provided with permanent homes, and now a pledge has been made to build 30 million new homes. Even today, more than 350,000 families in Chhattisgarh are moving into their new homes. This demonstrates the seriousness with which the BJP government in Chhattisgarh is working for the welfare of the poor.
