Classroom Horror: 9th Standard Student Shoots Teacher with Gun Hidden in Lunchbox
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The nation’s educational institutions have been rocked by shocking incidents of violence and crime, raising serious concerns about the safety of both students and teachers. Two separate cases from Uttarakhand’s Kashipur and Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur have left the country stunned. In one incident, a student shot his teacher over a minor dispute, while in another, a student brutally stabbed his classmate to death.
Student Opens Fire on Teacher in Kashipur
A shocking case unfolded on Wednesday at a private school in Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. A class 9 student fired a bullet at his teacher using a pistol he had hidden inside his lunchbox. Reports say the student was enraged after being slapped by the teacher a few days earlier.
During class, he pulled out the weapon and fired, hitting the teacher just below the right shoulder. The teacher was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition. The attack sparked outrage among teachers across the district. Several CBSE-affiliated teachers went on strike in protest, leading to the closure of multiple schools in Kashipur and surrounding areas. Police have detained the accused student and seized the firearm, launching an investigation.
Student Stabbed to Death in Ghazipur
A similar horrifying incident took place on Monday in a private school in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. A minor quarrel between students escalated into a gruesome murder when a class 9 student attacked Aditya Verma, a class 10 student, with a knife hidden inside a metal water bottle.
Aditya, who was trying to mediate between two quarreling students, became the target of the violent assault. He was stabbed multiple times and died on the spot. Three other students who tried to intervene were also injured in the attack.
Nationwide Shock and Fear
These back-to-back incidents have raised alarm over the growing trend of students smuggling weapons into schools and resorting to lethal violence over trivial disputes. Parents, teachers, and authorities are in shock, questioning how safe schools truly are for children today.
