Government’s Rakshabandhan Gift: Free Bus Travel for Women and Children
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu)- On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Haryana government has given a special gift to women and their children up to the age of 15. The facility of free travel in Haryana Roadways buses has started from today, which will continue till 9th August 12 midnight. This service is applicable to Haryana as well as Delhi, Rajasthan and Chandigarh. Crowds of women were seen at the bus stands since morning, who looked excited to tie Rakhi to their brothers. Karnal Roadways GM Kuldeep Singh said that 168 buses, which include all except AC buses, have been deployed for this service.
He said that this scheme, which started at 12 am, has been started to strengthen the relationship between brothers and sisters. Along with women, children up to 15 years can also travel free in it. Additional staff has been appointed in Karnal Roadways so that passengers do not face any problem. Kuldeep Singh said, "We have cancelled the staff's leave and checking staff has been deployed at the counter. Special arrangements have also been made for cleanliness and order." He appealed to the passengers to travel comfortably and contact the staff for any problem. On this occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the faces of women are blooming with happiness. A female passenger said, "The government's free bus service helped us reach our brother easily. You can take a child up to 15 years with you, which is a great relief. This festival is a symbol of the sacred relationship between brother and sister, which is awaited throughout the year."
Another woman said that she was going to her hometown and this facility has relieved her of financial burden. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Singh told reporters that the free service will run from 12 noon today to 12 midnight on August 9. He said, "Roadways buses going to Delhi and Chandigarh are also included in this scheme. Additional buses will be deployed wherever there is more crowd." He clarified that AC buses are not included in this service, but everyone will get the facility in ordinary buses. The staff has been given strict instructions to help the passengers in every possible way.
