High-Flying Rage: IndiGo Passenger Slaps Co-Traveller, Video Goes Viral

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident took place on Saturday in Indigo Airlines flight 6E-138 going from Mumbai to Kolkata, when a passenger suddenly slapped another passenger who was suffering from a panic attack. The entire incident was recorded on camera and now its video is going viral on social media.

Passenger slaps another passenger on IndiGo flight, accused arrested; watch VIDEO : It can be clearly seen in the video that the air hostess was helping the victim passenger during a panic attack, when another co-passenger came and slapped him hard without any provocation. After the incident, other passengers present in the flight questioned the accused. The accused replied that "I was having a problem with this." On this, another passenger strongly objected and said that you have no right to hit anyone.


The accused was identified as Hafizul Rehman when the flight reached Kolkata. He was handed over to CISF as soon as he deboarded the plane, after which he was taken to the police station of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (NSCBI). Here the Bidhannagar police arrested him.

Reacting to the incident, IndiGo Airlines issued an official statement strongly condemning the actions of the accused. The airline said, “We are aware of this brawl incident on one of our flights. Such indisciplined behavior is completely unacceptable and we strongly condemn any such act that compromises the safety and dignity of our passengers and crew.”


IndiGo said that the flight crew acted as per the prescribed standard operating procedure (SOP) and all the concerned regulatory agencies have been informed. The airline also reiterated that it is fully committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive environment to the passengers. At present, further action in this case is being taken by the security agencies. The police is interrogating the accused and a case has been registered against him under legal sections.
