Army Officer Unleashes Fury on SpiceJet Staff: 4 Employees Brutally Beaten Over Baggage Dispute
Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): A sensational case of a passenger brutally assaulting four SpiceJet employees has come to light at Srinagar airport. The airline alleges that the passenger, who is said to be a senior military officer, beat the employees with kicks, punches and Q-stand when he demanded extra baggage charges, due to which one employee's spine broke and another fell unconscious. The airline has started the process of putting the passenger on the 'no-fly' list and has also lodged an FIR with the local police.
According to a SpiceJet spokesperson, the incident took place at the boarding gate of flight SG-386 from Srinagar to Delhi on July 26. The passenger was carrying two cabin bags weighing a total of 16 kg, more than double the permissible limit of 7 kg. When the ground staff politely asked him to pay the applicable charges for the excess baggage, the passenger refused and forcefully entered the aerobridge without completing the boarding process.
A CISF official then escorted the passenger back to the gate. According to the spokesperson, on returning to the gate, the passenger became even more aggressive and attacked four SpiceJet employees. "The passenger brutally thrashed the employees. When an employee bent down to help his unconscious colleague, he was kicked hard on the jaw, causing bleeding from his nose and mouth," the spokesperson alleged. The injured employees were immediately rushed to a hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
SpiceJet has written a letter to the Civil Aviation Ministry, calling the incident a "murderous attack" and requesting appropriate action against the passenger. The airline has obtained CCTV footage of the incident from the airport and handed it over to the police. The police have registered an FIR and started investigating the case.
