Pyongyang (The Uttam Hindu): North Korea, which openly supported Russia in the Ukraine war, has now begun building a memorial for its soldiers killed in the conflict. According to South Korean media reports, approximately 6,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed and thousands injured in the conflict.

According to North Korea's official news agencies, the foundation stone for the memorial was laid in the capital, Pyongyang. The significance of this groundbreaking ceremony is evident from the fact that North Korea's supreme leader, Kim Jong Un, and the Russian ambassador to the country attended the ceremony together.

On this occasion, Kim Jong Un praised his soldiers for their support of Russia. He said, “This museum is dedicated to those true patriots who, demonstrating a sense of patriotism, gave their lives fighting for Russia.”

Along with senior army officers, families of the soldiers who died in Russia were also present at the event.

North Korea, considered the most isolated country in the world, is firmly aligned with Russia in this war. According to reports, Kim Jong Un sent not only weapons but also thousands of soldiers to Russia to help drive the Ukrainian army out of western Russia.

A major military agreement has also been signed between the two countries, according to which both countries are bound to provide military assistance to each other in case of war.

Meanwhile, North Korea is steadily expanding its weapons arsenal. In recent years, it has tested several hypersonic weapon systems. These weapons are said to travel five times faster than the speed of sound. However, international experts have questioned the veracity of North Korea's claims.
