Another Hindu youth murdered in Bangladesh, third such case in 10 days
Dhaka (The Uttam Hindu): The cycle of violence and atrocities against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh shows no signs of abating. Another case of the brutal murder of a Hindu youth has come to light in Mymensingh district. According to police, a youth named Bijendra Biswas was murdered by a man named Noman Miyan. Acting swiftly, police have arrested the accused, Noman Miyan. This incident is also concerning because it is the second murder of a Hindu youth in the same district within just 10 days.
Minorities are becoming victims of mobocracy
Incidents of mob lynching have risen sharply in Bangladesh in recent days. On December 24th, 29-year-old Amrit Mandal, alias Samrat, was beaten to death by a mob in Rajbari district. Locals accused him of extortion, leading to a violent mob attack. Earlier, on December 18th, Dipu Chandra Das was similarly murdered in the Bhaluka area of Mymensingh. Accusing him of blasphemy, the mob not only beat him but also hanged him and burned his body. Police have so far arrested 12 people in the Dipu murder case, and interim government chief Mohammad Yunus has assured the victim's family of responsibility.
Violence erupted after Hadi's death
The country has been in turmoil since December 12th. Student leader Osman Sharif Hadi was shot and passed away while undergoing treatment in Singapore. Since his death, protests and unrest have continued across the country, under the guise of which minorities are being targeted. In addition to murders, incidents of arson have also been reported. In the Raujan area of Chittagong, the homes of seven Hindu families have been set on fire in three different locations within the last five days. These ongoing incidents have created an atmosphere of fear among the Hindu community living there.
