Washington (The Uttam Hindu): The day after a peace proposal was agreed upon in Gaza, US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to the terrorist organization Hamas. He stated clearly that if Hamas does not surrender its weapons as per the agreement, the US will force them to do so, even if it has to resort to violent means.

During a press conference, when Trump was asked what the US would do if Hamas refused to lay down its arms as per the terms of the peace proposal, Trump responded in his characteristic style, saying, "They (Hamas) will have to lay down their arms. If they don't do it themselves, we will make them lay down their arms."

Trump further claimed that his close aides have spoken to Hamas's top leadership and the organization has agreed to surrender its weapons. He said, "I spoke to Hamas. I said, 'You're going to surrender, right?' They said, 'Yes, sir, we'll take down all the weapons.' That's what they told me. If they still don't surrender, we'll deal with them forcefully, and that approach could be a little violent."

Along with this, President Trump also made it clear that Hamas will have to release every hostage unconditionally and will also have to hand back all the bodies of the killed people.

According to reports, Donald Trump has appointed his Special Representative for Middle East Affairs, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to lead the peace process. It is reported that Witkoff and Kushner, with Trump's approval, held direct talks with top Hamas leaders in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, paving the way for this peace proposal. Based on these talks, Trump is claiming that Hamas has agreed to lay down its arms.
