Hamas Under Fire: Aid Truck Looted in Gaza Amidst Hunger Crisis, Shocking Video Emerges
WASHINGTON (The Uttam Hindu): The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has accused Hamas operatives of looting a truck carrying humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip. The truck was part of an aid convoy sent by international partners. CENTCOM also shared drone video showing the attack.
According to Centcom, suspected Hamas operatives attacked the driver, forced him into the middle of the road, and then stole the truck and all the aid supplies it was carrying. The driver's current condition is unknown.
The entire incident was monitored by the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) based in Kiryat Gat. The center observed the incident through video surveillance from a US MQ-9 drone flying over Gaza.
"This type of looting undermines international efforts to deliver aid to Gaza," Centcom said in a statement. Centcom also reported that international partners have sent more than 600 truckloads of aid to Gaza daily over the past week.
Following the emergence of the drone video, US Senator Marco Rubio strongly condemned Hamas. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Hamas is depriving the people of Gaza of vital humanitarian aid." Rubio accused Hamas of obstructing civilian relief by blocking it. He called on Hamas to surrender and stop looting.
The CMCC was opened on October 17 in southern Israel as a main hub for Gaza aid. The center coordinates the delivery of humanitarian, military, and security assistance to Gaza by approximately 40 countries and international organizations.
A UN report published in August also revealed that most of the aid reaching the war-torn Gaza Strip was looted inside the Palestinian territory.
