New Delhi/Tehran (The Uttam Hindu): Amid rising global concerns over crude oil supply, Iran has granted special relief to India by allowing India-flagged oil tankers to pass through the crucial Strait of Hormuz. The decision reportedly came after diplomatic discussions between India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Following the decision, two Indian oil tankers—Pushpak and Parimal—have safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz. Reports also say that another tanker, captained by an Indian and carrying crude oil from Saudi Arabia, recently passed through the route.

This Liberian-flagged vessel is said to be the first tanker headed for India to cross the strait since tensions escalated in the region. The ship has now reached Mumbai port, providing some relief amid fears of disruption to global oil supplies.
