Iran slams Trump's deal claims, says 'no reason for talks'
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has rejected US President Donald Trump's claims that Iran wants a deal, stating that they see no reason to negotiate with the US. Araghchi emphasized that Iran is prepared to defend itself for as long as necessary, dismissing Trump's assertions as baseless
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : While US President Donald Trump repeatedly claims that Iran wants to reach a deal with the United States, Iran has rejected all these claims. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed Trump's claims, stating that they are not prepared for any ceasefire or negotiations.
Following this statement by the Iranian Foreign Minister, the US President said that Iran is not ready to make a deal to end these attacks. Trump, who often makes unilateral claims on global issues, seems to be changing his statement after the statement by the Iranian Foreign Minister. In his latest statement, US President Donald Trump said that the US is in talks with Iran as the war is in its third week, but Tehran is not ready for any deal to end it.
Trump also stated that the US is engaging in diplomatic talks with all countries to address the ongoing turmoil and tension in the Middle East and the global market. He did not provide further details, but he did state that he is engaged in diplomatic talks with other countries. Previously, the US President had appealed to all countries to send their warships to the Strait of Hormuz to keep it open. However, Trump was unsuccessful. So far, no country has supported Trump's decision.
Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi categorically rejected Trump's earlier claims, stating that Tehran is prepared to defend itself against this illegal war for as long as it takes. The foreign minister said, "We never asked for a ceasefire, and we never asked for negotiations. We are prepared to defend ourselves for as long as necessary."
He said Iran will continue its operations until US President Donald Trump realizes that this is an illegal war with no victory. Araghchi added, “We see no reason why we should talk to the Americans. We were talking to them when they decided to attack us, and that was a different time.”
Earlier on Saturday, the US President said that Iran had expressed interest in talks. However, Trump also stressed that Washington would not rush into a ceasefire agreement as long as the war continues. "Iran wants to make a deal, and I don't want to do it because the terms aren't good enough right now," Trump said.
