New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : South Korea is grappling with a strange dilemma these days. The country is advancing in technology and development, but work pressures, expensive living, and changing lifestyles have pushed people away from relationships. As a result, dating and marriage trends are weakening, and the birth rate has reached a historic low. To address this crisis, the government is now emphasizing financial incentives to encourage people to form relationships and start families.

Dating is also subsidized. "Meet, talk... the government will pay the expenses"

According to reports, the Korean government gives people $350, or about 31,000 rupees, for going on a date. This allows you to eat together at a restaurant, go to a movie, or do any other activity together. If your parents are also meeting on the date, the expenses will be covered separately.

Huge help for marriage, support for children too:

In South Korea, upon marriage, a couple gets up to Rs 25 lakh. Apart from this, a separate amount is also given if they have children. Actually, the cost of living here has become very high. In such a situation, even if the couple wants to, they avoid children due to inflation. People are busy in their own development. In such a situation, now the government is busy in giving money to people and getting them engaged in relationships.

Why is this step necessary?

According to experts, the younger generation prioritizes careers, long working hours, expensive housing, and personal freedom. In such an environment, relationships and parenting become "major commitments." The government is concerned that if the birth rate doesn't increase, the workforce will shrink, the elderly population will increase, and the economy will be impacted in the long run.
