Minnesota Lawmaker Melissa Hortman and Husband Killed in Minnesota Shooting
Washington D.C. (The Uttam Hindu): A horrifying incident has shaken the state of Minnesota, where state lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed in their home. In the same wave of violence, State Senator John Hoffman and his wife were also shot and wounded. Authorities have confirmed that the shooter was disguised as a police officer and remains at large.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has activated the State Emergency Operations Center and assured that full resources of the state are being mobilized to assist local law enforcement. In his statement, the governor said, "We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as soon as more information is available."
According to officials, the suspect is a white male with brown hair, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt over a blue shirt and blue pants. A shelter-in-place alert has been issued for a 3-mile radius around the Edinburg Golf Course in Brooklyn Park.
The violence has sent shockwaves through the political community. Mounds View Mayor Jack Lindstrom expressed deep concern, stating, "I never thought we’d see this day. Violence against public officials is unacceptable."
