Indian Army Chief Mocks Pakistan’s Field Marshal Move, Reveals Operation Sindoor’s Decisive Blows
Madras(The Uttam Hindu): In a sharp dig at Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir’s promotion to Field Marshal, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that in today’s era, wars are fought not only on the battlefield but also in the realm of narratives. Speaking at an event in IIT Madras, he quipped, “If you ask a Pakistani what happened in the war, they might say – our Army Chief became a Field Marshal, so we must have won.”
General Dwivedi stressed that real victory is not determined by rank, but by action on the ground. Referring to Pakistan’s decision to grant Munir the five-star rank, he underlined that military success is measured by tangible results, not titles.
Citing the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which shook the nation, he revealed that the very next day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened a high-level security meeting in Delhi, declaring, “Enough is enough.” For the first time, all three armed forces were given explicit political clearance to take independent, decisive action.
This led to the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7. The Indian Armed Forces executed precision strikes on terrorist networks in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating over 100 militants linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Pakistan retaliated with cross-border firing and drone attacks, but India’s air defence systems neutralized the threats. In counterstrikes, the Indian military targeted and destroyed 11 Pakistani military installations, radar systems, communication centres, and airfields—crippling its combat readiness.
