Report claims Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei in coma, no official confirmation yet
Report claims Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is in a coma-like condition, but no official confirmation has been issued amid rising Middle East tensions.
Tehran (The Uttam Hindu): Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, reports have surfaced regarding the health of Mojtaba Khamenei, with claims suggesting that Iran’s top leadership may be facing a serious health crisis. A report by The Times, citing diplomatic sources, alleges that he is in a coma-like condition and not in a position to take key decisions. However, there has been no official confirmation from Iran.
According to the report, US and Israeli intelligence sources claim that Mojtaba Khamenei is undergoing treatment in Qom, a major religious and political center for the Shia establishment. Due to his reported condition, he is said to be unable to actively participate in governance.
It is worth noting that following unverified reports of the death of Ali Khamenei in a recent attack, Mojtaba Khamenei has been widely speculated as his successor. However, many of these claims remain independently unverified and continue to vary across international sources.
The report also mentions intelligence inputs regarding preparations for a large burial site in Qom, potentially linked to top leadership figures. These claims, too, lack official confirmation.
There are also reports suggesting that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in a recent attack, and that several of his family members may have died. Since then, he has not appeared in public, nor has any verified audio or video of him been released.
Despite this, statements attributed to him continue to appear in Iranian state media. Iranian officials, meanwhile, have maintained that the country’s leadership remains in full control and governance is functioning normally.
Given the sensitive situation, experts advise caution, emphasizing that such reports should be treated carefully until officially confirmed.
