New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid rising tensions between the US and Iran, a post claiming that an Indian spy has been arrested in Bahrain is going viral on social media. However, the Indian government has dismissed these claims as completely false.
The viral post claims that Bahraini authorities have arrested Nitin Mohan, an Indian telecommunications engineer, accused of passing sensitive information to the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad. The post also claims that the Bahraini government has confirmed the arrest.
However, India's Ministry of External Affairs has refuted these claims, calling them fake news. Sharing a screenshot of the viral post on social media, the ministry wrote, "Fake news alert - This claim circulating on social media is completely false and baseless. Beware of such misleading posts."
Media reports (PIB) also clarified on this matter that the claim of arrest of an Indian spy in Bahrain is false and has no official basis. The government has appealed to the people not to trust the unverified news circulating on social media and to believe only the information received from official sources.
