Telangana student brutally killed in US robbery, second incident in 15 days
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): Another Indian student who had traveled to the United States with dreams of higher education has been brutally murdered. This is the second time in the past 15 days that a young man from Telangana has lost his life in the US, creating an atmosphere of panic and insecurity within the Indian community.
In the latest incident, Pole Chandrasekhar, 25, a resident of LB Nagar in Hyderabad, was shot dead by robbers in Dallas city on Friday morning. Chandrasekhar had completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Hyderabad and had recently moved to the United States for further studies.
According to reports, Chandrashekhar was working part-time at a gas station to support his studies. On Friday morning, unidentified robbers entered the station and opened fire, intending to rob him. Chandrashekhar was shot twice in the chest and died before reaching the hospital. Dallas police have detained a suspect in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
Chandrashekhar's family in Hyderabad has been plunged into grief following this news. The family is inconsolable and demanding that their son's body be brought back to India as soon as possible. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his grief over the incident in a post on Twitter and assured the family of all possible help. BRS Party leader Harish Rao also visited the family's home to offer condolences.
Just 15 days before this incident, another young man from Telangana, Mohammed Nizamuddin, was stabbed to death in California, USA. Nizamuddin had gone to the US for studies in 2016. These incidents have raised serious questions about the safety of Indian students in the US.
