Trump announces major Japan-US trade agreement, $550 billion investment pledged
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): The United States and Japan have reached agreement on a much-anticipated trade deal. US President Donald Trump formally announced this major trade deal between the two countries, calling it historic. He stated that Japan is now moving forward with implementing the first phase of its $550 billion investment commitment package in the United States.
According to President Trump, this investment will play a vital role in revitalizing America's industrial base, creating millions of new jobs, and strengthening national and economic security. He said the agreement is a historic moment for the relationship between the two countries.
The President announced that three major strategic projects will be launched: oil and gas in Texas, power generation in Ohio, and critical minerals in Georgia. He stated that the scale of these projects is enormous and would not have been possible without the tariff policy.
In a message shared on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the proposed gas power plant in Ohio would be the largest in the state's history. It would also establish an LNG export facility in the Gulf of America region, further strengthening America's energy capabilities globally.
He also said that the proposed Critical Minerals Facility in Georgia will reduce America's dependence on foreign sources and promote self-reliance in the field of strategic resources.
