Trump urged Iran to surrender and claimed the country’s Supreme Leader Mujtaba may not be alive after recent strikes.
Washington/Tehran (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump has urged Iran to surrender amid rising tensions in the Middle East. He also said he has heard reports suggesting that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, may not be alive, while ruling out the possibility of an immediate ceasefire.
In an interview, Trump claimed that Tehran is willing to end the conflict but said the current conditions for a deal are not acceptable. He stated that any future agreement with Iran must be strong and reliable, adding that he is not ready to accept the terms being discussed at the moment.
Trump also raised questions about Mojtaba Khamenei’s condition, noting that the new leader has not appeared in public since taking charge after the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Meanwhile, US officials claimed he may have been seriously injured in recent military strikes. Trump further said US forces carried out heavy attacks on Iran’s strategic Kharg Island and claimed that much of Iran’s missile and drone capability has been destroyed, while urging several countries to deploy warships to strengthen security in the Strait of Hormuz.
