Washington/Oslo (The Uttam Hindu): A unique controversy has erupted after Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado presented her 2025 Nobel Peace Prize medal to US President Donald Trump. Following this incident at the White House, the Oslo-based Nobel Committee has issued an official statement clarifying the rules. The committee has stated in clear terms that the "honor" of the Nobel Prize cannot be given to any other individual.

Machado presented her medal to President Trump during a meeting with him at the White House. Responding to this, the Nobel Committee stated that a laureate may give, sell, or donate their medal, diploma, or prize money to anyone of their choice. However, the Committee stressed that it does not matter what happens to the medal or diploma physically. Machado's name will remain etched in history as the official recipient of the award. The Nobel Prize cannot be shared with anyone else, nor can it be officially transferred to anyone else.

Machado presented the medal to Trump in gratitude for his unparalleled support for the overthrow of Nicolas Maduro and the restoration of democracy in Venezuela. She described it as a "symbol of respect" from the Venezuelan people. Machado was awarded the prestigious award for her tireless work promoting democratic rights in Venezuela and for a peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.

President Trump gladly accepted the gift and wrote on social media that it was a great honor. He described Machado as an amazing woman and said that she had given him the medal in recognition of his work, a wonderful sign of mutual respect. It's worth noting that Trump himself had made significant efforts to secure the Nobel Prize last year, but the committee ultimately chose Machado for the honor.
