Washington (The Uttam Hindu): An interesting scene was witnessed at the inaugural session of the Board of Peace, held in Washington, the capital of the United States, which is currently being discussed all over the world. In the middle of his address, US President Donald Trump replaced Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Calling PM Modi his best friend, Trump took full credit for establishing peace between India and Pakistan.

'PM Modi is a great man and he is watching this programme'

In the presence of prominent world leaders and international media, Trump spoke openly about India-Pakistan relations. During his speech, Trump looked toward Shahbaz Sharif in the crowded gathering and gestured for him to stand. As soon as the Pakistani Prime Minister stood, Trump, in his characteristic style, declared that the issue between India and Pakistan was a very important one. He added that he had spoken with Prime Minister Modi and that he was a great man and a very good friend. Trump also claimed that PM Modi was watching the event live. This scene was particularly special because India was present at the meeting only as an "observer," and PM Modi was not physically present. While the Pakistani PM stood and listened, as per protocol.

The war was stopped with a single call threatening a 200 percent tariff.

During his address, Trump reiterated his earlier claim to have reduced tensions between India and Pakistan. The US President said that last year, when he learned that tensions between the two countries had escalated and fighter jets were being shot down, he immediately called. According to Trump, he sternly warned both countries that if the war wasn't stopped immediately, the US would impose a massive 200 percent trade tariff on both countries.
