New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Freckles on the face are a common concern, especially among women. Many people try expensive products and treatments to reduce them, but often see little improvement. In reality, freckles are not just dark spots or patches; they may indicate blood impurities or vitamin deficiencies in the body.

According to Ayurveda, freckles are linked to an imbalance of pitta dosha. Excessive exposure to sunlight worsens the condition and can lead to melasma. While certain Ayurvedic remedies can help reduce freckles, dietary changes are also essential. Modern science states that deficiencies of Vitamin C, D, B12 and folic acid can trigger freckles on the skin.

Balancing these vitamins can improve skin texture and brightness. A mixture of turmeric and aloe vera gel works effectively for freckles. Grind raw turmeric, mix it with fresh aloe vera gel and apply it to the face. Once it dries, rinse with lukewarm water. Use this pack twice a week. Turmeric helps reduce dark spots, while aloe vera hydrates the skin.

Facial massage with oil is also helpful. Mix olive or almond oil with glycerin and gently massage the face in circular motions. Those with oily skin should do it once a week, and those with dry skin can massage twice a week. This improves blood circulation and adds a natural glow. A paste of rose water and raw milk also helps lighten freckles. Milk cleans clogged pores, while rose water refreshes the skin from within.

To reduce freckles, the diet must include adequate Vitamin C, D, B12 and folic acid. For blood purification, consuming amla juice, giloy juice or pomegranate on an empty stomach is beneficial. Folic acid is easily available in leafy vegetables. Adding soups made from spinach, beetroot, carrot, tomato and drumstick to your daily meals helps improve overall skin health.
