New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Motherhood is one of life's most beautiful journeys. However, pregnancy is a very sensitive time, requiring special care for both mother and baby. Ayurveda suggests that a proper diet, a healthy routine, and positivity during this time not only ensures the mother's health but also promotes the baby's full development.

Ayurveda considers these nine months to be the most important time for "Garbhasanskar." What a pregnant woman eats, drinks, thinks, and feels directly impacts the baby's physical and mental development. Therefore, adopting a healthy lifestyle during these nine months ensures a healthy mother and a healthy, intelligent, strong, and healthy baby. Ayurveda explains in detail the dos and don'ts of pregnancy.

Pregnant women should eat a light, easily digestible, and nutritious diet. They should go to bed early and get adequate rest during the day. They should always keep themselves happy and positive. To achieve this, they should read good books, listen to soothing music, and engage in healthy recreation. Light household chores, walking, pregnancy yoga, and pranayama should also be included.

Ayurveda also advises on what to avoid during pregnancy. Avoid heavy work, excessive exertion, or standing for long periods of time. Avoid long journeys on rough roads. Avoid spicy, fried, stale, or hot foods. Staying up late, anger, anxiety, and stress are harmful to both the mother and the baby.

Ayurveda recommends a sweet, smooth, and nourishing diet for pregnant women. Daily intake of fresh cow's milk, homemade butter, ghee, and light non-vegetarian food (if not vegetarian) is beneficial. Herbal remedies like asparagus, ashwagandha, Balamool, and Brahmi should be taken only after consulting a doctor.

Bathe in water with herbs such as bilva leaves, cinnamon, castor leaves, and other herbs recommended for the season. This helps calm both the skin and mind. Additionally, schedule regular checkups under the supervision of a gynecologist and Ayurvedic physician.

The number of homes affected now exceeds 500, and the affected population is estimated to be around 25,000. A joint team of the administration and company management is currently deployed in the affected areas. Appeals are being made to residents to vacate their homes, and arrangements for rehabilitation, relief, and security are being continuously reviewed. The displaced people are demanding compensation and employment.
