New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Most people are now resorting to Ayurveda to lead a healthy life. Meanwhile, the Ministry of AYUSH on Monday told about an old but very effective Ayurvedic tradition Ritu Shodhan through its Instagram post.

Ritu Shodhana simply means cleansing the body according to the season. It is not just a treatment but a natural way to refresh the body and mind. In its post, the Ministry of AYUSH said that under Ritu Shodhana, the body is purified from within with treatments like Virechana (laxatives) and Vamana (emetics). Virechana is the process of removing toxic excreta from the body. On the other hand, Vamana means intentional vomiting, due to which unwanted elements deposited in the stomach and lungs come out. Both methods are considered a part of Panchkarma in Ayurveda.

The post states that these treatments should be done according to the season, so that the body can naturally adapt to the environment. When toxins are removed from within the body not only the digestive system becomes stronger, but the mental state also improves. Ritu Shodhan increases the immunity of the body, which prevents problems like common fever, cold and allergies that occur when the weather changes. Apart from this, it is also beneficial for those who are struggling with lifestyle problems like obesity, indigestion, skin diseases or mental stress. If the simple principles of Ayurveda are adopted and the body is taken care of according to the season then we can not only stay away from diseases, but can also live a better and balanced life. Traditional treatments like Ritu Shodhan are emerging as a new hope in today's world, which are not only environmentally friendly but also completely natural.
