New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Yoga not only helps maintain a healthy body, but also balances the mind and emotions. There are many postures in our body that help release stress, fear, and pressure. One such effective posture is the "Simhagarjanasana."

During this asana, the practitioner roars loudly like a lion. To perform this, the mouth is opened, the tongue protrudes, and a deep roar is produced from the throat. This practice particularly benefits the throat, face, and respiratory tract. This asana not only relieves body stiffness, but also calms the mind and is very effective in boosting self-confidence.

The method of practicing Simhagarjanasana is also easy. First, sit in Vajrasana posture. For this, sit with your knees spread, heels under the buttocks and the toes of the feet touching each other. Place the hands on the knees or rest the fingers on the ground with the body facing towards the body. Keep the spine straight. Now lift the chin two-three inches and look towards the middle of the eyebrows. During this, take a deep breath through the nose. While exhaling, open the mouth, extend the tongue completely and roar with the sound like a lion. This process should be repeated 5-10 times. After the practice, breathe normally and relax.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, regular practice of Simhagarjanasana provides relief from problems related to the throat, ears, nose, eyes, and mouth. It is also beneficial for tonsil, thyroid, and respiratory problems. It strengthens the facial muscles, leading to a glow and preventing premature wrinkles.

Practicing Simhagarjanasana daily improves mental and physical health. However, some precautions are important. Avoid this asana if you have any injuries or pain in your knees, throat, face, or tongue. Patients with high blood pressure or heart disease should consult a doctor.
