Farmhouse raid reveals Engineer's stash of cash and honey worth lakhs
Bhopal ( Uttam Hindu News): In a major crackdown on corruption, the Lokayukta police in Madhya Pradesh raided the premises of a former Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD). The raid, conducted in the capital, Bhopal, uncovered disproportionate assets, including ₹2.6 million in cash, gold and silver by the kilogram, and, most shockingly, 17 tons of honey.
On Thursday, Lokayukta teams simultaneously raided four locations linked to former Chief Engineer Govind Prasad Mehra. This action uncovered assets worth crores.
Officials recovered ₹2.6 million in cash, 2.64 kg of gold, 5.5 kg of silver, and a large quantity of fixed deposit (FD) and investment documents from Mehra's Bhopal flat. The most surprising discovery of the raid was made at Mehra's farmhouse in Narmadapuram, where officials recovered 17 tonnes (17,000 kg) of honey. Furthermore, a tractor, a fish farm, a luxurious cottage, high-tech devices, and four luxury cars were also seized from the farmhouse.
During the investigation, a PVC pipe factory in Govindpura, operated in the name of Mehra's sons, was also discovered. According to the Lokayukta, several important documents related to cash and property were recovered from this factory. Lokayukta officials believe that Mehra acquired all of this property through corruption during his tenure. The assets recovered during this operation, which continued late into the night, are being evaluated, and further investigation is underway.
