India-Pak Tension Fallout: Himachal Cancels Bus Services to Jammu, Vaishno Devi Yatra Hit
Shimla (The Uttam Hindu): In light of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, the Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has temporarily suspended all bus services heading towards Punjab and Jammu regions. The decision affects routes to key cities including Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Jammu.
Additionally, buses en route to Katra for the darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi are being halted and turned back mid-way. Passengers have been advised to postpone their travel plans or seek alternative arrangements until further notice. HRTC Managing Director Nipun Jindal confirmed the development, stating that the suspension has been implemented as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers amidst the evolving security situation.
Authorities have assured that updates regarding the resumption of services will be communicated as soon as the situation stabilizes.
