Stomach Pain Leads to Discovery of 10 Iron Wrenches and Nuts in Unbelievable Operation
Uttar Pradesh (The Uttam Hindu): In Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, a shocking medical case unfolded when a doctor at the district hospital successfully removed 10 iron wrenches and nuts from the stomach of a young man during a remarkable operation. The incident left everyone who heard about it stunned. Currently, the young man, who is originally from Kolkata is in stable condition and recovering at the district hospital.
The young man, identified as Roshan Chaurasia had been living with his sister in Ilfatganj Market, Ambedkar Nagar for the past few years. On Friday, he approached Dr. Vipin Verma at the hospital complaining of severe stomach pain. Upon conducting an X-ray and CT scan, Dr. Verma discovered the presence of metallic objects in Roshan’s stomach. This prompted an immediate operation on Monday during which the medical team was astonished to remove 10 large iron tools one by one.
Dr. Vipin Verma explained that such cases are often linked to psychological disorders, where patients develop an uncontrollable urge to consume non-food items like soil, plastic or even metal. Roshan’s father mentioned that his son had recently returned from Kolkata about 15 days ago and had started experiencing health issues. Initially, the family sought help from private hospitals, where doctors suggested that iron objects might be in his stomach. Skeptical of the findings, the family eventually brought Roshan to the district hospital after being advised to seek treatment in Lucknow.
The operation, which was the first of its kind at Ambedkar Nagar District Hospital was a success and Roshan is now recovering well. Dr. Verma shared that Roshan had been consuming different items daily for 10 to 15 days leading to the accumulation of such a large number of iron objects in his stomach. Despite the unusual nature of the case, the medical team is relieved that the patient’s condition has stabilized.
