Major ATC glitch at Delhi airport delays over 100 flights, passengers stranded for hours
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Chaos erupted at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Friday when a major technical glitch occurred in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system. Flight operations at the airport were severely affected.
According to initial information, due to this problem in the ATC system, the movement of more than 100 flights has been delayed, due to which thousands of passengers are stranded at the airport and are facing huge problems.
Delhi Airport issued an official statement in response to the situation. The statement read, "A technical issue with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system is delaying flight operations at IGI Airport."
The airport authority stated that teams are actively working to resolve the issue. Passengers are regretted for the inconvenience caused and advised to contact their respective airlines.
Leading airline IndiGo also posted on 'X' (formerly Twitter) that flight operations were being delayed due to a technical issue in the ATC system.
The company stated that this problem is affecting not only Delhi but also several other airports in North India. IndiGo said that passengers on the ground and those already on board are facing extended wait times. The airline assured that its crew and ground staff are providing all possible assistance to passengers.
