Diljit Dosanjh Threatened by Pro-Khalistan Group After Feet-Touching Gesture to Amitabh Bachchan
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Punjabi singer-actor and international star Diljit Dosanjh has landed in controversy following his recent appearance on the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, where he respectfully bowed and touched the feet of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.
A banned pro-Khalistan organisation, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has condemned the gesture, claiming that by touching Bachchan’s feet, Dosanjh “insulted every victim, widow, and orphan of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.” The group alleged that the actor had made remarks during that period that offended the Sikh community, and has now warned of disrupting Dosanjh’s upcoming concert in Australia scheduled for November 1, 2025.
The threat has prompted heightened security concerns for both Dosanjh and Bachchan. Intelligence agencies and event organisers are said to be closely monitoring the situation to prevent any untoward incidents during the international tour.
In response to the controversy, Diljit Dosanjh addressed the issue indirectly through a social media post. He clarified that his appearance on the show was not to promote any film or song but to highlight flood relief efforts in Punjab. He further stated that he would continue to spread love and positivity, regardless of criticism or threats.
The controversy has reignited discussions around celebrity gestures, religious sensitivities, and extremist propaganda, with many in the entertainment industry and public urging peace and restraint.
