Big Move by Diljit Dosanjh: ‘Sardarji 3’ Banned from India Release
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Global superstar Diljit Dosanjh has decided not to release his controversial film 'Sardar Ji 3' in India after facing criticism for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. On Tuesday, Diljit's manager Sonali Singh wrote a long note on Instagram, in which she said that Diljit has decided that his film 'Sardar Ji 3' will not be released in India.
Sonali started her note by saying that Diljit Dosanjh has created a huge cultural identity not only in India but all over the world in his 20-year career. He has faced criticism many times, but he has represented India quietly and calmly.
She wrote, “Being a Pakistani actress, her upcoming film 'Sardarji 3' is facing criticism. This is very sad and wrong considering the current situation, because this film was made at a time when there was no such political environment.”
Sonali said that this film has been made by those producers from their savings. This film has been made to promote the regional film industry. Now trying to stop the release of this film is not just against an artist, but against the entire film making team and the industry.
He further wrote, "This film is not made by any big company or corporate group, which can bear huge losses. Rather, this film is made with the entire earnings and hard work of a common man. Now, if this film is not released, all his money can be in danger."
Sonali also mentioned Diljit's film 'Punjab 95'. It has been more than two years since this film was made, but the censor board has not yet approved its release. In this film, Diljit is playing the role of a human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Jaswant Singh Khalra fought for those innocent Punjabi people who were arrested by the Punjab Police without any reason. All this happened at a time when there was a fight against terrorism in Punjab after the assassination of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi.
He said, “Even amidst all these difficulties, Diljit has respected the sentiments of the people of India and the government. He has decided that he will not release this film in India. He stands with the mood of the country at this time and respects the decisions of the country. Yes, this decision will have a big impact on the business of the film, but Diljit is not thinking only about himself. He is trying to minimize the losses of the producers, the film team and the families whose livelihood is related to this film and at the same time is also taking care of the sentiments and respect of the country.”
