Diet acts as medicine for people with vata constitution, helps overcome dryness and weakness
Ayurveda recommends specific foods like whole grains, ghee, milk, dry fruits and sweet fruits for people with Vata constitution to reduce dryness
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): According to Ayurveda, the human body is made up of three doshas and seven dhatus. The three doshas include Kapha, Pitta and Vata. For a healthy body, it is very important that all three doshas remain balanced. However, here we are focusing on the Vata dosha. Vata is considered to be formed from the elements of space and air, and people with a dominant Vata constitution are usually thin, physically weak and often suffer from dryness in the body. The main reason behind this condition is often related to diet.
According to Ayurveda, food should be consumed according to one’s body constitution so that proper nutrition and qualities of food keep the body healthy. However, in modern times, many people are unaware of their body constitution and tend to eat according to taste rather than suitability. Here are some dietary suggestions recommended in Ayurveda for people with a Vata-dominant constitution.
People with Vata dosha should include whole grains in their diet because they are considered heavy and nourishing. Individuals with dominant Vata often experience fatigue and dryness, and whole grains provide both strength and lubrication to the body, helping control dryness.
Consumption of ghee and milk is also considered important for people with Vata constitution. Both milk and ghee provide nourishment and lubrication. They help prevent an increase in Vata and Pitta and also protect the body from excessive dryness. Ghee is also beneficial for deeply nourishing the skin.
Dry fruits and melon seeds can also be consumed by people with Vata constitution. These foods provide oils, warmth and nutrition, helping supply the body with both energy and vitality.
At the same time, such individuals should avoid stale food and always consume fresh and properly cooked meals. Stale food can disturb the balance of Vata and Kapha in the body. People with Vata constitution should also eat sweet and juicy fruits daily. Fruits such as mango, banana, papaya, grapes and apple can be included in their diet.
