New Delhi (Uttam Hindu): Regarding the trade agreement with India, US President Donald Trump has said that his administration has started sending letters to many countries informing them about the tariffs to be imposed on imported products. Trump said, "We have made an agreement with Britain, we have made an agreement with China and we are close to making an agreement with India."

Along with this, Trump said, "We also met other people and we do not think we will be able to reach an agreement, so we have sent them a letter. If you want to send your goods to America, you will have to pay tariffs." Let us tell you that the trade agreement between India and America is almost complete and the final deal can be announced soon. Trump's statement has come at a time when the US administration has extended the suspension of high tariffs imposed from July 2 from July 9 to August 1. This has given India an additional 3 weeks to finalize the trade agreement with America. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal had said last week that India does not enter into any trade agreement on the basis of deadlines and will accept the agreement only when it is fully finalized, properly concluded and in the national interest. The agriculture and dairy sectors are difficult and challenging for India to give tariff concessions to America. India has not yet opened the doors to the dairy sector in any of its free trade agreements signed. Meanwhile, the Trump administration on Monday sent letters to different countries detailing the tariffs that the US will impose on the goods of those countries. Trump said, "We are sending letters to different countries telling them how much duty they will have to pay."

Letters signed by Trump have been sent to Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Serbia, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand and Tunisia. Trump said, "These countries are 'robbing' America and imposing tariffs on us that no one has ever imposed before. There are some countries that are imposing 200 percent tariffs and making trade impossible."
