New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Union Cabinet has approved the launch of the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY), a six-year program aimed at revitalizing India's agricultural sector in 100 districts with low agricultural productivity, inadequate irrigation and limited access to farm credit.
Key Objectives:

4. Expand Rural Credit Access: Provide short-term and long-term agricultural loans to farmers.
5. Improve Post-Harvest Storage: Establish storage and processing units at the Panchayat and Block levels.
Implementation Strategy:
1. Local Committees: Each district will have a Dhan-Dhaanya Samiti, comprising officials and farmers, to create local farm plans.
2. Monitoring and Evaluation: Performance will be tracked monthly using 117 indicators, covering yields, water use, credit access, and crop mix.
3. Guiding the Process: NITI Aayog will oversee the overall process, and Central Nodal Officers will review progress regularly.
Expected Impact:
1. Boost Agricultural Growth: Increased farm output through better crop management and irrigation.
2. Higher Income Stability: Diversified cropping patterns will provide farmers with more stable incomes.
