New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): There is an important news for crores of beneficiary farmers of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme. Farmers waiting for the 20th installment of the scheme will have to ensure that their mobile number is correct and updated on the portal of the scheme. The government has made it clear that the beneficiaries whose mobile number is found to be wrong or switched off will not be sent the next installment of Rs 2000.

Why is correct mobile number important?

Actually, before releasing every installment, the central government does OTP based verification to ensure the identity of the beneficiary. This OTP is sent only to the registered mobile number of the farmer. If your mobile number is entered incorrectly on the portal or you are no longer using that number, then the OTP will not reach you. Due to this your verification will fail and the installment money will be stuck.

Disadvantages of not updating the mobile number

The 20th installment of Rs 2000 will not be received on time.

OTP verification may fail.

There also remains a possibility of fraud from your account through some other number.

Future installments may also be delayed or interrupted.

How to update mobile number online from home (step by step)

Visit the official website: First of all visit the official website of PM-Kisan https://pmkisan.gov.in .

Click on 'Farmers Corner': On the right side of the homepage, you will see the 'Farmers Corner' section.

Update details: Now click on the option of 'Updation of Self Registered Farmer'. Enter your Aadhaar number and the given captcha code here and proceed further.

Enter new number: After OTP verification, your complete information will be opened. Here you can enter your new and correct mobile number and save it.

How to update offline?

If you are not comfortable with the online process, you can also get this work done by visiting your nearest Public Service Center (CSC). For this, carry your Aadhar card and old registered mobile number with you. The CSC operator will update your mobile number on the PM-Kisan portal by charging a nominal fee, the confirmation of which will be received by you through SMS.

Apart from the mobile number, also check this

Farmers are advised to check not only their mobile number but also their Aadhaar number, bank account number and IFSC code on the portal. If there is any mistake in any of these details, the installment money may get stuck.
