New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : The Supreme Court has upheld an important decision of the Rajasthan High Court. The Supreme Court clarified that candidates belonging to reserved categories who score above the General/Open category cut-off and do not benefit from any special concessions cannot be limited to their reserved category. Such candidates must be included in the Open category even at the shortlisting stage.

The case relates to a recruitment process initiated by the Rajasthan High Court in August 2022, inviting applications for 2,756 positions (Junior Judicial Assistants and Clerk Grade-II). The selection process consisted of a 300-mark written examination and a 100-mark computer-based typing test. According to the rules, five times the number of vacancies in each category were to be shortlisted for the typing test based on the written examination.
