Meerut (The Uttam Hindu) – A shocking case of medical negligence has come to light from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. While treating a two-and-a-half-year-old child's injury, a doctor at a private hospital applied Feviquick instead of stitches, leaving the child in pain for a long time. The family has complained about the incident to the Meerut Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Actually, a two and a half year old child got hurt near his eye while playing and started bleeding. After which his family took him to a private hospital where instead of stitching the wound, the doctor asked the family to get Feviquick worth Rs 5 and he stitched the wound with Feviquick. When the child continued to feel pain, the doctor said that the child is nervous and the pain will subside in some time. But when the pain did not subside even after some time, the family hurriedly took the child to another hospital. It took the doctors of the second hospital 3 hours to remove the Feviquick from the child's injury and only then could the child's injury be stitched.

This incident occurred at Maples Heights in Jagriti Vihar Extension, Meerut. The family alleges negligence on the part of the hospital, claiming that if the Feviquick had gotten into the child's eyes, a serious incident could have occurred. The child's family has filed a complaint with the CMO. Meerut CMO Dr. Ashok Kataria stated that the child's family has filed a complaint. An investigation committee has been formed to investigate the matter.
