The wait for Jewar Airport is over! It will be inaugurated on this day, with flights to 10 major cities
Ghaziabad (The Uttam Hindu): The long wait for Delhi-NCR's much-anticipated Jewar Airport is about to end. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjurappu Ram Mohan Naidu announced on Wednesday that Jewar Airport will be inaugurated on October 30. He also stated that flights to 10 major cities across the country will begin from the airport within 45 days of its inauguration.
The Union Minister was speaking at an event organized at Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad on the occasion of "Passenger Service Day." He informed that flights to major cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata will be launched from Jewar Airport in the first phase. Negotiations have been completed with major airlines like IndiGo and Air India Express.
Describing Hindon Airport as an important airport, the Minister said that its proximity to Delhi is helping to reduce the increasing burden on Delhi Airport. He also announced plans to expand Hindon Airport. He said, "Nine acres of land has been sought from the state government for the expansion of Hindon Airport. Also, talks are underway with the Air Force to increase the airport's parking capacity." Currently, Hindon Airport is connected to 16 cities in the country and more cities will be added soon. On this occasion, he also planted a tree in the Hindon Airport premises.
The Union Minister also made several important announcements for air travelers across the country. He stated that free Wi-Fi will be made available to passengers at all airports in the country within the next two months. Furthermore, airport libraries will soon be opened to enhance the passenger experience.
