TMC MPs stage sit-in outside Amit Shah’s office, Mamata’s party in confrontational mode against ED raids
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The political confrontation between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the central government has now reached the streets of the national capital. Tensions escalated further when eight TMC MPs staged a sit-in protest outside the office of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The MPs are protesting against recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids in Kolkata, alleging that the action is an act of political vendetta by the Centre.
On Thursday, the ED conducted raids at multiple locations in Kolkata. During the operation, agency teams also searched two premises linked to the IPAC company. IPAC is known for handling election management and strategic planning for the Trinamool Congress. The raids have angered the TMC leadership, which has described the move as politically motivated.
The party alleged that central agencies are being misused to disrupt its election campaign in West Bengal and to weaken the party politically. TMC leaders claim the timing and nature of the raids clearly point to political interference by the central government.
Several prominent and outspoken TMC MPs are part of the protest outside the Home Minister’s office. These include Derek O’Brien, Mahua Moitra, Shatabdi Roy, Kirti Azad, Saket Gokhale, Pratima Mandal, Bapi Haldar, and Dr Sharmila Sarkar. The MPs said they will not be intimidated and will continue to raise their voice strongly against what they call the misuse of central agencies.
The protest has further heated up the political atmosphere, not only in Parliament but also across West Bengal, as the confrontation between the TMC and the Centre intensifies.
