Troubled by premature grey hair? this simple ingredient can give a natural hair colour
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In today’s time, grey hair is no longer limited to old age. Due to changing lifestyles, irregular eating habits, rising stress levels, lack of sleep, and constant exposure to mobile and laptop screens, people are experiencing white hair at a very young age.
Earlier, grey hair was mostly seen after the age of forty or fifty, but now even school and college students are facing this issue. As a result, many people look for quick solutions. Repeated use of chemical hair dyes is neither good for health nor convenient for everyone.
According to Ayurveda, hair reflects the body’s internal health. When the balance of vata and pitta is disturbed, it directly affects the hair roots. Modern science also explains that grey hair occurs due to a reduction in melanin, the pigment responsible for giving hair its natural black colour. Stress, oxidative damage, and nutritional deficiencies reduce melanin production, leading to premature greying.
Fennel seeds are considered one such natural remedy. While fennel is commonly used for digestion, Ayurveda regards it as beneficial for balancing all three doshas. Fennel contains antioxidants, flavonoids, and natural compounds that help fight free radicals. From a scientific point of view, antioxidants protect hair roots from oxidative damage, which is one of the main causes of early greying.
Fennel also contains natural pigments that form a light dark coating on the hair. This method does not permanently blacken the hair but helps temporarily cover white strands in a natural way.
The process of using this remedy is very simple. First, fennel seeds are soaked in clean water to remove impurities. They are then roasted on low heat until completely burnt. Once the fennel turns into black ash, it is allowed to cool and then ground into a fine powder. This powder is applied to grey hair. The effect lasts for about a day and washes off during the next hair wash.
If the problem of premature greying continues to increase, both Ayurveda and modern science suggest improving diet, reducing stress, and strengthening the body from within for long-term results.
